
Area information
The Quayside is one of the main attractions in Newcastle with quality bars and restaurants.
Grey's Monument (2 miles / 3.2 km) - built in 1838, this 40 meter tall monument to Charles Grey, celebrates the Earl's passing of the Great Reform Act of 1832. It stands at the head of Grey Street, which was voted England's finest street in a 2005 BBC Radio 4 survey.
St. James' Park (2.5 miles / 4 km) - home of the famous Newcastle United Football Club, who have occupied a place in the English Premiership for over a decade.
Center for Life (2.5 miles / 4 km) - A unique science village, aiming to promote greater interest and engagement in science as well as supporting scientific research. It offers visitors an annual programme of imaginative exhibitions, lectures, workshops and family events.
Travel information
By Car:
From the A1 Southbound:
- Take the A184 turn off and head towards Gateshead.
- Take the Tyne Bridge exit and cross the river.
- At the 55 Degress North roundabout (Bar 55 or Metro Radio), take a right signposted Walker A186.
- Head towards Quayside and take a left.
- You’ll pass Tyne Tees Television Studio on your left hand side.
- Follow the road around until you cross a small red bridge.
- Once over bridge you’ll see a white garage on your left named The City Road Garage.
- Take your next right and right again and follow the road around until you see The Free Trade Inn.
- City Apartments are directly opposite.
From the A1 Northbound:
- Leave the A1 at the A69 Junction and signs for City West.
- At the roundabout, take the 2nd exit onto West Road - A186 (signposted City West).
- Continue on West Road - A186 (signposted City West).
- At the traffic signals continue forward onto Westgate Road - A186 (signposted Motorway A167 M).
- Keep in the left hand lane, then continue forward on Westgate Road (signposted Motorway, Walker).
- At Pilgrim Street Roundabout, take the 3rd exit onto City Road - A186 (signposted Walker, Wallsend).
- Bear right onto the A186.
- Bear left on the A186 (signposted Riverside Route, Walker, Wallsend).
- At the traffic signals bear left onto City Road - A186.
- You will go over a small red bridge and the apartments are on your right hand side. Look for a white building with grey balconies.
- Take the next right into Hawick Industrial Estate.
- Turn right onto St Lawrence Road (GAP Plant Hire on right).
- The apartments are opposite the Free Trade Inn.
By Public Transport:
From Haymarket, Theatre Royal, Dean Street or the Quayside, you can take the QuayLink Bus. The Q2 is the yellow bus which operates every 10 minutes at a cost of 0.75 GBP per journey to your destination of Ouseburn Quayside.
Once you exit the bus, walk along the promenade and then up the steps behind the Tyne Public House to the top of the hill. The City Apartments are on the left at the top of the steps, directly opposite the Free Trade Inn.
Important information
City Apartments Newcastle Quayside do not accept payment by cash.
Stag and hen parties/groups can only stay by contacting City Apartments in advance.
City Apartments must have names and addresses of all apartment occupants. Only these occupants may stay overnight in the apartments. Visitors must be registered with City Apartments (who may refuse admission) and must leave by 00:00 (midnight).
